The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint Emergency Medicine Consultants to work in our A&E department.

The Emergency Department at PAH has had great success over the past two years.

The implemented changes have all contributed to the provision of an excellent service that continually shows improvements with patient experience, reduction in waiting times and the ability for clinical staff to give the appropriate care at the right time in the right place.

Our Emergency Department (ED), on average, has 280 attendances a day. There is an ENP led minor injury service, a 3-bay Resuscitation Room, four ambulance assessment cubicles and 15 majors cubicles. Assessment on arrival is provided by a team including a GP, ENP and senior ED nurse.

We have a six chaired Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). We have a standalone Paediatric ED, which the ED consultant is also responsible for overseeing.

We are looking to increase our team by recruiting more ED consultants. The ED Consultants principal role is to increase our clinical activities – including provision of leadership and good clinical care.

The successful candidates will share the responsibility of providing emergency medicine to the highest possible standard with the other consultants.

The candidates will augment our current skill mix and professional interests, work with us to develop and manage the department, facilitate education and foster a learning environment. A preference for paediatric dual accreditation or interest will be given to one of the posts.

Applicants are invited to visit the department and meet the team before putting in an application for the post. Alternatively, applicants are welcome to contact our lead consultant for an informal chat.

For more information or for informal chats/visits, please contact: Dr Curtis Emordi, Consultant and Emergency Department Lead on 01279 444455 Ext 7474 or email or our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Andy Morris, is also keen to speak to prospective candidates and can be contacted on 01279 827115.

To apply, please click the apply button.

Closing date is 30 April 2017.
