Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine
Pennine Acute NHS Hospitals Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England covering a population of 850,000 serving the communities of Bury, North Manchester, Oldham, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale in Greater Manchester. Our hospital sites are at Fairfield General Hospital (FGH), North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH), The Royal Oldham Hospital (TROH) and Rochdale Infirmary.
Our world-class specialist services include asthma, lung cancer, interstitial and occupational lung, pleural and sleep clinics and integrated respiratory care services supporting patients in hospital and at home. We provide bronchoscopy including EBUS and thoracoscopy as well as specific bronchial challenge testing. Our clinics on all sites are supported by specialist nurses and allied health professionals.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a subspecialty interest to complement and enhance the service that we provide. There are also exceptional opportunities for those wishing to develop services across primary and secondary care, clinical leadership roles and medical education roles. We have close links with the University of Manchester with our teaching hospitals status and we are one of the largest training organisations for junior doctors in the North West.
We are looking for candidates with ambition to join our team to support specialist and general respiratory services, general (acute) medicine and our integrated services in primary and secondary care. The main inpatient sites of clinical activity will be based either at The Royal Oldham Hospital or North Manchester General Hospital; however the post holder may be required to work at other locations within the Trust.
This is an exciting time for Pennine Acute working closely with Salford Royal Foundation Trust (with its track record of patient safety, operational performance and staff engagement) and with our health and social care partners, including local NHS commissioners, other providers and local councils across Greater Manchester. The right candidates will have the opportunity to help lead service developments and develop clinical leadership across health and social care. The Royal Oldham Hospital is designated as a Specialist Hospital under Healthier Together (one of four Specialist Hospitals across Greater Manchester). North Manchester is part of the future development of the City of Manchester Single Hospital Service integrating standards of care across the city.
North Manchester is situated at the fringe of a global destination city with Oldham its’ gateway to the Pennines and surrounding beautiful countryside. Our hospital sites are situated minutes away from the motorway network and Metrolink. The area has excellent schools & house prices, with good transport links and an international airport.
