Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
This is an NHS Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post comprising 8 PAs based in the new community based Manchester and Salford Eating Disorder Service (MSEDS). This is a new post developed as part of CAMHS transformation and CAMHS ED monies.
This new service will offer eating disorder outpatient care to children and young people and their families where restrictive eating disorders are the main presentation. For patients who are judged to have primary issues that are not due to their ED the post holder will be able to liaise with local Tier 3 CAMHS teams or the 16-18 years Emerge Service to decide which provider is best place to address the child or young person’s needs
This service will cover the city of Manchester (North, Central and South Manchester) and Salford.
This is an urban population of approximately 160, 000 children and young people under the age of 18years, from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, with high levels of social deprivation in many parts but also some affluent areas.
The new service will work seamlessly with the existing Tier 4 outpatient service and link with existing Tier 3 provision. This will be especially relevant for children and young people with high levels of co-morbidity and complexity.
