St Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospitals

Applications are invited for 12-month fellowships in the above sub-specialties based at St Mary's Hospital. The cardiac fellowship is based at Hammersmith Hospital.

St Mary’s is a Major Trauma Centre situated in NW London that treats in excess of 2500 adult and paediatric trauma patients per year from diverse backgrounds. In 2014, NHS England named it the best MTC in the UK.
We are a tertiary referral centre for vascular anaesthesia and do over 300 arterial cases per year including open, endovascular and bypass procedures. As well as experience in managing complex cases, there are excellent opportunities to participate in high quality audit and research.

The bariatric and upper GI fellows would each spend 6 months in each area. These fellowships offer the opportunity to work with the Chairman of SOBA, Dr J Cousins, and his colleagues. The unit performs 600-750 bariatric surgeries a year with major comorbidities and challenges.

For the successful candidates, as well as experience in managing complex cases, there are excellent opportunities to participate in high quality audit and research.  See our website below for the previous achievements of our fellows. We can also offer a combination of sub-specialities within the 12-month post to suit successful candidates.

Applicants are required to have full GMC registration/license and inclusion on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council at the time of interview.

Further information is available at www.smh-gas.org.uk or please contact Dr Rose Dhesi – Site Lead for Clinical Fellows, or Dr Ben Graham – Clinical Lead for St Mary’s on 020 3312 1248.
