The department consists of a 14 room Maternity Unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level two 5 cot Neonatal Unit and a dedicated Women’s’ Health Unit. This role is primarily based in Invercargill but some travel across the Southern District is expected. You will be expected to participate in the on-call roster, routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics and some outreach clinics. We would be keen to hear from a wide range of applicants from new graduates, to those with an interest in clinical leadership, complex obstetrics or urogynaecology.
The department has a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric hand-over and weekly teaching sessions, and recently achieved a four year accreditation for O&G training by RANZCOG. The department is affiliated to the Dunedin School of Medicine University of Otago.
Invercargill is the southern-most city in New Zealand’s South Island and is renowned for its friendly and unhurried pace of life and strong sense of community. There are abundant sports and other amenities, educational (primary through tertiary) facilities, and a vibrant arts and cultural scene. Close by are national parks and summer and winter playgrounds in Queenstown and Central Otago - whatever your passion.
