General Medicine Physician

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated specialist General Medicine Physician to join our team of 18 SMOs and its dynamic model of acute inpatient and ambulatory care. In recent years we have undertaken a comprehensive redesign of general medicine, with significant investment, resulting in a roster which is led by patient focused senior doctors with time to care.

As one of our Senior Medical Officers, you will provide expertise, compassion and a high standard of clinical practice to your patients.

You will be known by your peers as someone who works to improve the quality and responsiveness of our services.

You will have insightful communication skills. Our multi-disciplinary model demands our health professionals to be people who are focused on developing and maintaining enjoyable and effective working relationships.

As a team player, you will work in an environment that is professional and supportive.

You will work within a tertiary setting where General Medicine is valued, contributes widely throughout the hospital, and works closely and easily with subspecialty services.

We are committed to shaping the physicians of the future. You will be supported in your role by enthusiastic and able junior doctors. Your role will involve mentoring and supervising your team, and contributing to their education - an environment that has seen a 100% pass rate in the RACP written exam for the last 2 years.

You will be encouraged to grow or continue an active interest in quantitative or qualitative research. Members of the department have authored or co-authored more than 30 peered reviewed publications in recent years.

The position is available from June 2017.

There is a total of 0.7FTE available, generally worked as 3 weeks full time, 3 weeks off. A further 0.1 FTE may be available to run a weekly outpatient clinic. We are keen to facilitate connection with local research institutions for any researcher with current funded research interests or an applicant who wishes to pursue concurrent postgraduate study.

You will have or be eligible for provisional vocational/vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and hold FRACP or equivalent qualification.
