Wye Valley NHS Trust is recruiting to the dermatology department. The successful candidate is required to provide skin oncology and general dermatology services to the wider population of Herefordshire, Powys and into the Shropshire border areas. The successful candidate will join a dermatology clinical team of 3 consultants, 3 specialty doctors, 1 clinical nurse specialist and 6 specialist nurses.
There will be the opportunity to develop a special interest to complement those of other consultants in the department.
This new post is intended to meet the needs of a busy and expanding service and will contribute to the capacity required to meet current demand. Our goal is to provide high quality, holistic skin care for our patients. We have developed 2WW skin cancer see and treat clinics, provide dedicated paediatric clinics, inflammatory skin clinics and expanded our research portfolio. We regularly contribute to GP and medical student teaching.
The Dermatology department has recently expanded its staffi ng and premises. A new outpatient department has been developed off site at Goal Street which has 5 clinic areas and is developing facilities to perform biopsies. See and treat clinics for 2WW referrals and skin surgery is carried out in Oxford Suite on the ground floor of the hospital. Phototherapy,
iontophoresis, patch-testing and photodynamic therapy clinics are held in Therapy services situated near the dermatology offi ces and Oxford Suite.
The department works closely with Dermatology and Skin Oncology units at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, Gloucester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust Hospitals.
In light of the increasing demand, especially 2WW referrals, on our services, we are pursuing innovative ways to deliver all aspects of general dermatology services whilst providing opportunities to develop sub specialties. We are actively seeking consultants who are looking for new personal developmental opportunities, whether it be clinical, managerial,
sub-specialty, medical education or simply seeking a better work life balance. We are able to support part time and full time job plans which include dedicated PA’s in specific subspecialty interests. Flexible packages are available and informal approaches are welcome. Current consultant 10 PA job plans are split 7.5 DCC and up to 2.5 SPA.
The Trust has 1 PFI central district general hospital and 4 locality-based community hospitals and offers a full range of services. Wye Valley Trust is working closely with Herefordshire CCG, Herefordshire Council and 2gether Mental Health Trust on transforming care across organisations. This offers a unique opportunity to those with an interest to develop pathways and services for specialties across primary and secondary care. We also provide services to neighbouring counties of Powys, Shropshire and Worcestershire
