Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Clinical Teaching Fellowship

Applications are invited for the posts of Fellow in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). This post will run for a period of 6 months commencing on 02/08/2017 until 06/02/2018. The unit has extensive experience in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery, Open Colorectal Resections, procedures for Prolapse, PPH, THD and Modern Pelvic Floor surgery including Sacral Nerve Stimulation. Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has a strong track record in the training of Laparoscopic Surgery.
There will also be an opportunity to develop skills in Laparoscopic Hernia repair and to be involved in undergraduate teaching, postgraduate courses as well as a research project that could be completed during the fellowship period.
The Fellow will rotate between two Colorectal Units in ARI, both of which perform Laparoscopic Colorectal resections routinely. The successful candidate will have exceptional hands-on experience, as the main emphasis will be training in theatre. Participation in the On-Call Rota is expected. The Colorectal Unit has SAC and Post Graduate Approval for 5 STR year 5/6 trainees. The post would be best suited for trainees nearing completion of CCT.
This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
