Leighton Hospital

Nestled in the heart of Cheshire, with green fields bordering the site on every side, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust staff benefit from great work, home, education and leisure opportunities. The Trust has three sites, including its headquarters at Leighton Hospital in Crewe – 35 minutes from Manchester or Liverpool and less than an hour away from Birmingham, yet only half an hour away from the Peak District. There are some excellent day nurseries and schools in the local area, including 22 Ofsted “Outstanding Providers”. The Trust has a formal clinical partnership with its nearby University Hospital, benefits from local universities in Crewe (Manchester Metropolitan University) and in Chester.

The Trust was rated as ‘Good’ by the CQC from its October 2014 full inspection, has a good reputation for research and benefits from some of the very latest clinical facilities; these include critical care, neonatal intensive care, a new suite of state-of-the-art theatres and a dedicated day case Treatment Centre. The Trust has invested signifi cantly in recent years in clinical expansion and hospital mortality is ‘as expected’ across the range of indicators.

Applications are invited for a Consultant with an interest in Diabetology and Endocrinology at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidates will join the existing substantive Consultant to form a rotation, undertaking out-patient clinics and inpatient ward rounds, within an ambitious and supportive department.

At Leighton Hospital there is one nominated Diabetology ward; there is also a dedicated outpatient facility.

There is also one inpatient Diabetic Specialist Nurse who supports the trust and the general diabetic patients. Work is ongoing to develop our integrated diabetes model to help support patients in the community. Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice.

The posts are offered on a full-time basis; however, the Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more fl exible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
