Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of Paediatrics based at the Oxford Children’s Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford. This is a new full time (10 PA) post.

The successful applicant will join a team of two Consultants in Paediatric Infectious Disease and one honorary Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Disease.

The postholder’s commitments will include routine Paediatric Infectious Disease work including an in-patient consulting service, a paediatric microbiology clinical governance service and a tertiary outpatient service in paediatric infectious disease, immunology and HIV. The post holder will be required to provide regional telephone advice on aspects of paediatric infectious disease. In addition, the post holder will lead the antimicrobial stewardship programme in Children’s services reporting to Dr Katie Jeffery (Deputy DIPC) and the medical director. Appropriate administrative support will be provided to support this post.

Our Paediatric Infectious Disease team is part of a vibrant community of academic endeavour at Oxford University in infection and immunity and vaccinology with an international reputation. The post-holder will take on a major role in the University’s postgraduate teaching programme in paediatric infection and immunity with responsibilities for supporting and developing the postgraduate diploma and MSc in paediatric infectious disease. The postholder will also have opportunities to contribute to the undergraduate teaching programme in paediatrics in the medical school and clinical training of specialist trainees in paediatric infectious disease, including clinical lecturers.

The post holder will also have dedicated time to help coordinate clinical research activity in the Children’s Hospital working with a team of dedicated research nurses and administrative support staff working to improve the health of children through research.
