Scotland has a population of 5.3 million people and environments ranging from urban inner cities to remote islands. There are 14 Health Boards providing primary, secondary and tertiary care in an integrated health system, with no separate commissioning bodies.
Scottish Medical Training is delivered by the Scotland Deanery which is part of NHS Education for Scotland (NES). The Deanery is based on four regions of Scotland centred on the Medical School centres of Aberdeen (North), Dundee (East), Edinburgh (South East) and Glasgow (West). Each region runs a wide range of programmes in partnership with local health boards, and applications are made to specific regions/programmes rather than to Scotland as a whole. There are some cross region and national programmes for smaller specialties based in two or more regions.
For more details on the programmes, the NHS in Scotland and living in Scotland, visit the ScotMT website.
Scotland will be recruiting in all Core programmes, GP and most hospital specialities for 2017. Vacancies will be posted at http://www.scotmt.scot.nhs.uk/recruitment/specialty-recruitment/vacancies.aspx
